Home sweet Home

Wednesday 25th September. Day 39. After spending a lovely morning having cuddles with Cora we packed up and headed for home.  It took us 5 hours to get home, the weather was awful.  Crossing back to our beloved Wales. Someone was really glad to get home to a comfy sofa 🤣  So this is it, the end of our adventure. It’s been an amazing and wonderful experience and we have really enjoyed our tour around Scotland and England. We’ve had a lot of fun along the way and have met so many great people. Also we’ve been so lucky with the weather! Tewkesbury to Wiltshire

Tuesday 24th September. Day 38. We had a broken night’s sleep as kept wondering if we would be evacuated! Luckily not. I went to check out the entrance and it was still flooded. The road was a river running past. Thank goodness they have the emergency exit!  The whole site was being evacuated as they were concerned that the water could keep rising. It was fine for us as we were leaving anyway, but we felt sorry for those who had booked for a week’s holiday. Today we were heading for Wiltshire to see our daughter Jess, son in law Ben and our gorgeous new Granddaughter Cora.  We saw a lot of flooding on our journey but luckily the roads were mostly ok. Here she is, such a beautiful girl and an absolute delight! We had a lovely afternoon and evening catching up.

Tewkesbury

 Monday 23rd September. Day 37. It was pouring it down as it had been all night. Our pitch was waterlogged and so our first priority was to try and change to a hard standing pitch.  That achieved we set off to explore Tewkesbury Abbey. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tewkesbury_Abbey We lit a candle for all those we have loved and lost ❤️ The sun is an emblem of the House of York. It was put on the ceiling as a memorial to their victory over the House of Lancaster at the battle of Tewkesbury in 1471.  The lecturn. The pulpit. The Denny windows are two modern stained glass windows designed by Tom Denny in 2002 to mark the 900th anniversary of the Benedictine monks coming to Tewkesbury.  Here you can see wooden carved resting ledges or Misericords which the monks would have leant on during worship. The Font. The base is original and dates from the 13th century. The ornate and in my opinion rather vulgar top was added in Victorian times. The consecration cross from 1121...
