Rainy rest day & bird spotting

 Day 14 Monday 29th April

We had hoped to do another bike ride today to Morar, to see the silver sands of Morar (sounds like something out of Lord of the Rings!), but the rain has arrived and the forecast is it will remain wet all day! John still has back issues so he wasn’t up to doing much anyway.

So instead I got togged up in my new wet weather gear and took Dex for a nice long walk. We started out along the beach as usual.

Then we headed along the road as I wanted to try and get to the beach the other side of the estuary. We walked and walked. Each time I found a path that looked like it led to the beach it was marked private, no right of way. So after about a mile or so we gave up and turned back. It rained the entire time we were out but I was nice and dry in my waterproofs. Poor Dex was looking a bit bedraggled! He cheered up when we got back to the beach and he was off the lead again! We did see a few birds on our walk. There are a lot of cuckoos around and we have heard them calling every day. I was able to get a short video of one. Don’t expect me to rival David Attenborough’s crew 🤣

We saw some cows and then further on a Heron which promptly flew off.

Down on the beach were a couple of Oyster Catchers

Another smaller wading bird which I think may have been some type of plover.

Now back in the van in the dry, nice and cosy thanks to our efficient heating and Dex is wearing his dry robe so he’s nice and warm too. Time to catch up with some reading and relaxing. ☺️
