Red Squirrel Day!

 Day 11 Friday 26th April

We said goodbye to Bunree campsite after enjoying the dawn view.

Today we were off in search of red squirrels! I read that a local woodland had a feeding station for red squirrels which was basically boxes of nuts attached to the trees. You could watch them from behind a wooden screen. Of course you could wait for hours to see one. I was so lucky though as had only been watching for about 5 minutes and one appeared and immediately started feeding. I was able to get several photos and a video! I was so thrilled as have tried to see them previously but never any luck. Another item off my bucket list! They are so cute 🥰

Once red had disappeared back into the woods we got Dex and went for a gorgeous waterfall walk. The place is called Inchree Falls. Fabulous circular walk with wonderful views and a great waterfall!

Brucie enjoyed it all 🤣

After our walk we followed the road to Fort William.

Had a little walk around Fort William but didn’t stay long as it started to rain and we wanted to get to our next campsite at Arisaig. Just as we were about to leave John spotted this steam train! Excuse the bad filming it was raining hard and I was trying to film whilst holding my umbrella 🤣 but you get the idea…we had wanted to go on this train as it’s the Jacobite railway famed for starring in the Harry Potter films. Spectacular scenery and it goes over the impressive Glenfinnan viaduct. Sadly no availability to book at the moment so this treat will have to wait for another time!

The scenery was beautiful even in the rain.

The rain eased off after a while and the scenery got ever more impressive.

We passed by the Prince’s cairn. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince's_Cairn

Finally our campsite was in sight and it didn’t disappoint. The facilities here are very clean and modern and it’s a nice quiet spot with a direct path to the beach.
