Bike ride to Morar
Day 15 Tuesday 30th April
John is still really struggling with his back problems and can hardly walk so we are staying here until he improves. He has back exercises which he is doing and with rest as well he’ll hopefully feel better soon. I’m on Dex duty so we did our usual beach walk. We saw a lady swimming! Fair play I know I would not be trying that here in these temperatures 🤣
I don’t think the gulls could quite believe it either 🤣
Lovely seeing these horses
This young bull was loving wading in the mud
After our walk I decided to go exploring on my e-bike and find the silver sands of Morar. It was raining but not too hard so I set off with my bike lock, a water bottle and an emergency packet of crisps! I didn’t even think to pack a puncture kit or anything. Lots of lovely scenery to photograph on the way. First I stopped at Traigh beaches.
Some lovely sheep and lambs along the way
Clearly a lot of wealthy people have houses here
Then I came to the Silver Sands of Morar. Beautiful spot.
I cycled on to Morar village. I was really hoping to find a cafe or shop so I could get some lunch or possibly hot chocolate and cake 😋 On the way to the village I stopped at this bridge to take some photos when I saw a splash in the water and could see a tail disappearing, then a moment later an otters head popped up! It was great to see one! I couldn’t get any photos unfortunately but I did see it a couple more times before it disappeared from sight.
Unfortunately Morar village was a disappointment as apart from the Morar hotel and a station there was nothing there! Not a cafe or shop in sight. Good job I had brought the crisps 🤣 It started raining harder so I cycled on to Loch Morar. It was very atmospheric in the rain.
There was a cow in the road! 😁
I was glad to get back to the warmth of the motorhome and into dry clothes. I had cycled about 12 miles, easy on an e-bike. I did pedal though but it just helps with the hills 😀
We cooked sausages, tenderstem broccoli, tomatoes and mash for dinner. We are using our air fryer and microwave for most meals as when we have electric hook up we may as well use the electric and it saves our gas for times when we need it. Dex seems to have settled well into van life. He has his bed under the table and is very cosy under there. He’s loving all the new walks we are going on. He has a harness and is clipped into the seatbelt for travelling. If we do have to leave him in the van to go shopping, we unclip him so he can move around and of course he has his water bowl and the roof is open so he stays cool. He likes to jump up into the front so he can see everything 🥰
