Cawdor Castle and Culloden
Day 31 Thursday 16th May
Another beautiful day and Dex and I enjoyed our morning woodland walk and loved seeing all the Gorse and Broom flowering together.
We drove to the Culloden battlefield but the car park was rammed and nowhere to park so we left and decided to return later. Instead we headed off to Cawdor Castle, just six miles away. Cawdor Castle
The maze was surrounded by avenues of Laburnum trees which were stunning to walk under.
After Cawdor we went to look at Fort George. I didn’t go inside but took some photos from the outside.
Later we went to the Culloden battlefield. It was still quite busy but we managed to park near the battlefield itself so John didn’t have so far to walk. I did a longer walk with Dex but John made it to the memorial. Battle of Culloden
The visitor centre was closed but we decided to return and visit that in the morning. If we arrived early we could hopefully find a space for the motorhome. We returned to camp.
