Culloden visitor centre & Blair Castle

 Day 32 Friday 17th May

Another glorious day. We set off for Culloden visitor centre and managed to get parked before all the coaches arrived. Dex and I had a walk around the outside before going into the visitor centre.

The visitor centre is very interesting and worth a visit. No photographs allowed and I saw an official pounce on someone who had decided to sneak a picture on his phone. She made him delete it 🤣 Visitor Centre

After this we made our way south. We were booked in at the Blair Castle Caravan park which is adjacent to Blair Castle. It’s near Pitlochry. Great views of the Cairngorms on our journey.

We saw this ruined Castle near Spey Bridge. It turned out to be the ruins of Ruthven Barracks. Ruthven Barracks

We arrived at the turn off for Blair Atholl. There were tourists everywhere and a whole retail park. We carried on into the village.

The Blair Castle caravan park is huge but very well run and facilities were wonderful. They have a cafe and shop as well which is handy. We were quite near the toilets and showers which is good for John at the moment! If you stay on the site you can get free entry to the Castle grounds and only have to pay £5.50 to enter the castle itself (normally £18.50) so I took myself off for a visit in the afternoon.

Now that’s what I call a wine glass! 🤣
