Ferry to North Uist

 Day 22 Tuesday 7th May

We set off early heading for Portree. We could see Storr rocks and the old man of Storr in the distance.

Once we arrived in Portree, John went to the co-op to get provisions and Dex and I walked down to the harbour. It was a gorgeous sunny day. We found a bluebell wood on the way.

The Harbour was really pretty.

After our walk we set off for Uig where we would catch the ferry to North Uist one of the Hebridean islands.

We could soon see the ferry terminal in the distance.

We saw Uig tower as we passed by.

At the ferry terminal there was a lot of building work going on. John went over to an official to check us in.

Soon we were boarding.

Then we set off for Lochmaddy on North Uist.

It was the most idyllic crossing perfectly calm sea and warm sunshine on our faces. Beautiful scenery all around us. It took an hour and forty five minutes and I loved every moment.

We had arrived and it was time to disembark.

We arrived at an ancient burial site and stopped to look around.

Unfortunately we couldn’t look inside but at least we had made it here!

We carried on to our campsite at Balranald Hebridean Holidays next to the Balranald nature reserve.

Before we reached our site we passed the Hebridean smokehouse and popped in for some whiskey cured salmon. We had this with egg and avocado in wraps for our picnic later.

It was right next to the most fabulous beach with soft white sand. We took our chairs and a picnic and enjoyed the evening sunshine. Absolute bliss 🥰

Night night all 😘
