Rest day on Lewis

 Day 24 Thursday 9th May

It was overcast when I woke really early before 6am! I decided to take Dex for a quick walk whilst it was dry!

We had decided to have a day off today and catch up on the washing. We both have sore throats and so I started taking cold cure to try and battle the lurgy before it took hold. We are staying at the Eilean Fraoich campsite in a village called Shawbost. Eilean Fraoich Lovely site, very friendly and accommodating people and lovely clean facilities. That said absolutely nothing here, nearest shop 5 miles! There is a chippy that opens Thursday and Friday evenings and there is a food place that delivers breakfast to the site if you pre-order. Dex and I went exploring in the afternoon. We wanted to find the beach. First we found a tiny Fire station!

Weird window decorations!

We came to loch Shawbost.

Finally the beach!

I think these are Flag Irises but hard to tell until in flower.

Lovely Kingcups

It started raining again and I was really glad John told me to pack my waterproof trousers! Glad to get back to camp and the cosy van.
