Road trip to Skye part 1
Day 17 Thursday May 2nd
We finally said goodbye to Sunnyside and Dex and I had a final beach walk.
The Oyster catchers came to see us off. I think they were glad to see us go, especially Dex! 🤣
We had hoped to get a ferry from Mallaig to Skye but there are lots of problems with the CalMac ferries at the moment as the new ferry hasn’t yet started due to technical issues, so we decided on a road trip to Skye instead! First we made our way back to Fort William. Had a stop on the way to look at the Prince Charlie Cairn.
We also passed the monument at Glenfinnan which marks the Jacobite uprising in 1745.
More lovely views of Ben Nevis and the range of mountains on our way to Fort William.
Pretty sure this is Ben Nevis but it’s hard to tell from the ground!
We stocked up with supplies and then moved on to our campsite at Roy Bridge. It was near the river Roy. Dex and I went to explore. John is still suffering and thinks it may be bursitis so he’s only doing very slow short walks at the moment. Therefore I’m on full dog walking duties. I don’t mind as it’s beautiful scenery and I need the exercise.
