Bamburgh Castle

 Wednesday 18th September. Day 32.

Today we had tickets booked for Bamburgh Castle. We were quite excited as had heard it was a brilliant castle to visit. We had been disappointed not to get into Stirling Castle but actually after reading some of the reviews we reckon we dodged a bullet there as apparently there are hardly any of the original fixtures and fittings inside and it’s full of replica items. Also there are actors dressed in costume and it’s more theme park orientated which would not have been our cup of tea at all.

Anyway back to Bamburgh! We set off and soon could see the outside of this magnificent castle.

We managed to park in the Castle car park and headed for the beach with Dex for his morning walk.

It was an amazing beach, so long and wide with the tide out. We had a lovely walk along it, Dex enjoyed himself and met up with lots of other dogs. It was incredible seeing the Castle overlooking such a beautiful beach.

We could see the Farne Islands in the distance.

Brucie was enjoying a little sunbathe on the sand.

As was Dex.

We walked back to the car park.

We had to leave Dex in the van as dogs aren’t allowed inside the Castle, but we were parked in the shade and had the front curtain up and the roof open so it was lovely and cool in there. He can move around and has his water bowl so he was fine.

Bamburgh Castle which was once known as Bebbanburg is featured in the Last Kingdom series and there was an exhibition here.

Historical graffiti 🤣

HRH Queen Ruthie 🤣

His Majesty 😃

Amazing to see what was thrown at people in the stocks! Dead cats? OMG! 😳

We had a pit stop in the Tower Tearooms, well it would have been rude not too! 🤣

Apparently you can stay in the clock tower at Bamburgh if you have enough money!

We had enjoyed our visit. Now it was time to return to camp and enjoy a G & T in the sunshine 🥰
