Buckie to Peterhead

 Friday 6th September. Day 20

We had a good nights sleep in the hotel but were rudely awakened by seagulls screeching outside our window! The day started very cloudy in fact really low cloud. Not the best for sightseeing! We set off for Banff. We were booked at a sight in Peterhead so we could look at places along the way.

We came into Cullen, home of Cullen skink soup!

We went under the impressive Cullen Viaduct

You do see the strangest sights travelling around! 🤣

The Glassaugh windmill which is next to the Glassaugh Distillery. The Windmill was built in the 18th Century on the site of an old burial cairn. It was sold in 2019 and was to be converted into a family home.

Our next stop was Portsoy.

It had a fabulous old harbour and some impressive old buildings. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsoy

It was so foggy now we had to have the headlights on!

Our next stop was Banff. It was still misty but you could at least see the beach.

We hadn’t had breakfast at the hotel so I decided to get a bacon and egg bap. John was still full from last night’s Chinese 🤣

I wasn’t the only one having a late breakfast!

We could see the Temple of Venus up on the hillside. This was a folly built in 1737 with a statue of Venus inside.

Our next port of call would be Fraserburgh, right on the East coast.

We crossed the river Deveron into Macduff. Great names up here, we had Macbeth the other day all very Shakespearean.

A fishing boat just venturing out.

We continued on to Fraserburgh. Out there somewhere is the sea!

We arrived at Fraserburgh and I took Dex out for a little run along the beach.

We continued on to Peterhead.

We are staying at the Marina Bay campsite. Luckily the sun came out and we were able to sit outside. We even got the awning out! So nice just to relax in the sunshine.
