Harrogate

 Saturday 21st September. Day 35.

After a nice coffee and biscuits with Sheila (Debbie and Olivia left early Saturday morning for Glasgow), we set off to Harrogate. We easily found parking on the street outside Waitrose. We set off to explore.

Harrogate is a spa town and it really reminded us of Bath.

It was full of high end shops and we saw lots of Bentleys and Porsche's being driven around so clearly a wealthy town. Even the charity shops were full of designer clothes and bags. I couldn’t even afford to shop in those! 🤣

Bettys tearooms are iconic in Harrogate and so popular the visitors were queuing around the block to try and secure a table. We hadn’t booked as we weren’t sure when we would get here so we had no chance of getting in. Also we had Dex so we needed to find a dog friendly place.

The Trotters were clearly following us around! 🤣

We finally found a Mediterranean restaurant which was dog friendly so dived in there. It was great.

John had a lamb flatbread with sweet potato fries.

I had the most enormous croque madam I have ever seen! I couldn’t eat half the chips but I did a good job!

We set off to our campsite in Belper, about half an hour from Derby.

The skies started getting dark and it was clear a storm was coming.

We just managed to get set up before the heavens opened and we had thunder and flash lightning. The storm lasted for a few hours and the rain was lashing down all through the night. The noise from inside the van was incredible.

I recorded this in the middle of the night which is why it’s completely dark.
