Thursday 19th September. Day 33.
We were so relieved to leave the horrible campsite and get on the road again.
We were soon crossing the river Tyne near Gateshead.
We could see the Angel of the North on the skyline.
We parked nearby and went to take a closer look.
We headed into Durham.
We had wanted to spend time exploring Durham but it was a nightmare as so busy and we couldn’t find anywhere to park. Most of the car parks were multi storey so useless for us and everywhere else we tried was full. In addition our satnav seemed to have a nervous breakdown and kept redirecting us and twice it led us into narrow roads where we either weren’t allowed or couldn’t fit. We were so exasperated we decided to just get out of there. A quick snapshot of Durham Cathedral is all I managed. We will return to Durham by train or car another day!
We went to our campsite just outside Richmond and settled in. A lovely site, very clean so we were happy.
