Thursday 5th September. Day 19.
It was overcast but dry so we set off on foot to Urquhart Castle which was about a mile away.
We could see a tanker out on the loch.
I found my ideal holiday home with a wonderful view.
My financial advisor said this was more in our budget 🤣
Urquhart Castle came into view. It really was a magnificent location, must have been so impressive when it was first built.
We had such a good view from the footpath we decided not to go in. They don’t allow dogs and at £15 a head we thought it was a bit steep for a ruined castle.
We tried to attract the attention of this Highland cow but it was too busy grazing.
We set off for Nairn. The Autumn colours were already starting to show.
Back past all the monster tourist traps.
We reached Nairn and headed for the beach car park.
It was lovely and we had a stroll along the beach.
Next we headed for Brodie Castle to have a quick look.
There were lots of types of fungi in the grass.
There was a beautiful old Copper Beech tree.
On our way again, next stop Elgin.
This is Elgin’s controversial statue which is representing the fishing industry and also the woollen mills (cardigan) from Elgins past. Whether you love it or hate it, it certainly is a statement piece!
After Elgin we drove to Buckie. We had a look at the harbour.
We were staying the night in Buckie and had treated ourselves to a hotel so we could enjoy a nice shower in peace and quiet and not have to traipse to a toilet block in the middle of the night! 🤣
Brodie castle looked lovely, years ago I nearly moved to Elgin, was very cheap back then but don't suppose it is now!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed the hotel & big bed tonight 🥰😘xx
